Carson House Museum Website
A custom WordPress website for the Historic Carson House Museum in Marion, NC. I contributed significantly to the theme development, including the staff directory, events system, menu behavior, and accessibility improvements.
Overview
A custom WordPress site for the Historic Carson House, one of the oldest standing structures in Western North Carolina. The site serves as a hub for historical content, staff information, event listings, and visitor resources. Built on Pantheon.
My Role
A colleague was the lead developer (49%). I was the second largest contributor with 66 of 224 commits (30%), working across many core features:
- Desktop and mobile footer layout (CH-9)
- Header, navigation, and submenu behavior (CH-13, CH-28)
- Social media focus indicators and accessibility (CH-11)
- Staff and board directory with last-name sorting (CH-18)
- Museum hours in the WordPress Customizer (CH-23)
- Event button visibility and date logic (CH-30)
- Recaptcha integration (CH-40)
- Font, styling, and responsive layout work (CH-12, CH-14)
This was one of my more substantial contributions. I helped shape many of the core features the client uses daily.
